About
Work/Business: Graduate of the University of Tennessee, and I work in a technical position for a large media company in Florida. I enjoy researching business and innovation. I'm especially interested in companies that are able to reduce or limit barriers and make life more productive.
Politics:
I'm a lifelong centrist Democrat. I've been involved with Democrats for Life which is the pro-life voice for the Democratic Party. In addition, I discuss political topics with the Blue Dog Democrats.
Faith:
Faith is an important part of my life. To summarize my beliefs, Jesus is our ultimate role model and I believe he is the one and only way. I'm an active reader of Sojourners Magaznine which is a Christian based magazine that stresses faith and social responsibility.
New Urbanism:
While New Urbanism has many critics, the concept is far superior to the unbridled sprawl that stretches across much of America’s suburbs. Sprawl is a growing American export, and this is unfortunate. However, America is also leading the way in smart growth via the principles of New Urbanism. Basically new urbanism is the creation of new towns while utilizing old methods. Think any small town in New England that has a vibrant downtown.
Open Source:
I believe the community approach to IT solutions allows for better overall software quality - more people working on the software yields a better product; quicker responses to problems than commercial-ware; and it allows for a cost-effective infrastructure. Likewise, sharing the benefits of open source is important. Many civic groups could benefit from the reduced IT costs by utilizing community powered software.
