Republican Presidential Candidates

I don't see a strong presidential contender for the Republican ticket...

  • Romney will be labeled flip-flopper. Tons of video showing him pro-choice, and now he claims to be pro-life.
  • Giuliani would be the most liberal Republican ever to seek the Oval office.
  • McCain has had quarrels with the "Religous-Right."

I see Senator Brownback emerging from the pack. While he could win the nomination, I doubt he will have the mass appeal to win the independent votes in a general election.

In summary, the Democratic nominee would have to blunder big to not win in 2008. I hope that John Edwards can gain traction. However, I'm preparing to support Obama if Edwards runs out-of-steam.

Even the strong Republicans that I know like Tim Frady have now left Bush. It seems the final straw was the immigration issue were a couple of border agents went to prison for shooting illegal immigrates. Somehow since Bush didn't stick up for them, the Republicans are thinking that he mislead them on everything else in the past. So, yes the time is right for Democrats. At the same time, I'm hearing talk that there is no difference as to which party is in control as they are all the same. Therefore, we may see somewhat of an uprising in 3rd parties. I would doubt that they will have any real success in '08. Edwards is the candidate to watch as he is working hard to build the infrastructure, while his opponents are getting the negative stories. Edwards is also willing to tackle the very hard issues like heath care head on and that is to be admired. – Brad
